Sheet metal stamping has been a booming industry in many countries especially in countries like Japan. Japan has been one of the big exporters of steel and has continued to produce high quality metal components using their many advance technologies. Sheet metal stamping technologies are used to produce many metal components. It is also widely used in vehicle assemblies like stamping metal components for buses.

There are components that goes into making a bus. There is more than meets the eye. The amount of work that goes into it is a lot and how does the stamping technology fit into the makings of a bus? Stamping technology is used greatly to produce various pieces of metal sheets and different types of components that goes into different parts of the bus. Every component and parts needs to be carefully thought out to ensure the overall product works smoothly.
As the main raw material for a bus is steel, all metal sheets needs to be formed or pressed to it’s desired shapes and sized to accommodate the different parts of the bus. A school bus itself, is made out of hundreds of different components and to product these components, this is where the stamping technology comes in. Sheet metal is used mainly for the body of the bus and also the chassis of the bus.
To make the chassis, pieces of sheet metal is ordered according to the desired thickness and then comes the measuring and cutting processes. These pieces of metal sheets are then measures and cut using various stamping tools to produce accurate and identical pieces. These metal sheets are then bolted together to assemble the chassis and then it will be done.
As for the body of the bus, it is almost similar to the making of a chassis. Pieces of steel are measured and then cut using the stamping tools to desired thickness and shapes. After that, these pieces of sheet metal are then bolted and assembled to make the body of the bus. Many more components goes into making a bus and the stamping technology plays a big roll in producing the outlook of the bus.
Once the main components of the bus is ready, as in the chassis and the body, the manufacturers will start to assemble the whole bus together by putting together the chassis and the body. This is tedious work and should not be taken lightly by many as this is the part that needs quality control to ensure that the functions of the bus will run smoothly after production.
The stamping technology will continue to grow with time. With the advancement of technologies, the stamping industry will continue to grow. More and more programs and components will be develop by the younger generations and with the demand in the automobile industry, this will continue to help shape the future of the stamping industry.
